Nature of the island
Although Hotel Médano is a hotel where you can stay all day to rest, its surroundings are fascinating and worth discovering. Tenerife has the most varied and beautiful landscapes you can imagine, so we invite you to discover it. Curious beaches, impressive volcanic areas, green forests, traditional architecture ... All this and thanks to the good climate that you can enjoy throughout the year you will enjoy an unforgettable vacation. To help you, we recommend some of the places that you cannot miss on your holidays in Tenerife.
This spectacular tourist beach in Tenerife South is ideal for families, athletes or just to enjoy the beach. Frequented by tourists and locals, it has the Blue Flag distinction, which guarantees high-quality services and optimal water conditions for bathing.
With gray sand and majestic views of the volcanic cone of Montaña Roja, it is the perfect place to rest during your holidays in Tenerife. In its surroundings you can find restaurants, cafes and shops. In addition, on the beach there are sun loungers, showers, toilets and stands for renting surf equipment.
The beach of Cabezo, bathed by the ocean, is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the sun, the sea and the tranquility of Tenerife South. On this beach you can discover a corner of fine sand, with dunes and vegetation that surround it, thus creating a relaxed, natural and green environment.
On the beach of Cabezo you can find a well-known beach bar: the Cabezo beach bar. It is an ideal place to eat or have a drink just a few meters from the sea. This beach is very close to El Médano so you can access it without having to take the car.
The Teijita beach is a mandatory stop if you come to this area of Tenerife South. This beach, protected as a natural area, is simply an idyllic place where you can breathe the purest air.
With fine sand sheltered by the Red Mountain, a unique natural and wild environment is created. It is the perfect place to rest and refresh after climbing this incredible volcano. It has an area of umbrellas and sun loungers where you can lie down to rest and relax. It has parking to leave your car.
In 1994 the Montaña Roja (Red mountain) was declared a Special Nature Reserve. Apart from the well-known mountain, this reserve is home to 166 hectares that surround the Red Mountain. Two of the most unique features of this place are inorganic sands and a sandy and muddy habitat, which is rare.
The Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve has a variety of vegetation and fauna. The reserve has around 136 plants, some of them in danger of extinction. The same happens with the birds that winter and migrate to this place creating a special balance in biodiversity.
At the exit of El medano, next to the El Médano-Los Abrigos road, you will find a historical monument called the cave of Hermano Pedro, the first Canary Island's saint.
In this place he grew up when he was a child while taking care of his flock. It is a place highly revered by the islanders and they are very fond of it. It is a curious place but with a special atmosphere.
